The Arrow Lost Inside the Gur-e-Khar

From D10.18, Bahram’s Gur-e-Khar Hunt before the Princes. It illustrates D10.18.10–13:

  • D10.18.10
He urged Shabdiz and neared a buck at speed; Then loosed his shaft while racing on his steed.
  • D10.18.11
The arrow struck exactly as he meant;Through haunch and breast its deadly passage went.
  • D10.18.12
When it fell dead, the golden-belted came,And marveled at the shot and praised his name.
  • D10.18.13
They could not see the arrow’s point or vane; Both lay concealed within the creature slain.
