Nowruz Beneath the Hanging Crown
From E7.7, Khosrow Parviz Builds the City of Madain. It illustrates E7.7.63–70:
- E7.7.63All went to view that palace in its pride; The Shah spent Nowruz in its halls inside.
- E7.7.64No eye had seen, no craftsman known before,A palace of such wonder, wealth, and lore.
- E7.7.65A golden ring was fixed above the hall,Hung from the vaulted structure over all.
- E7.7.66From that ring swung a ruddy chain of gold,With jeweled links for royal eyes to hold.
- E7.7.67When Khosrow sat upon the ivory seat,They hung the crown above him, rich, complete.
- E7.7.68When Nowruz came and Khosrow took his place,A Mobad sat the nearest, shown due grace.
- E7.7.69Below him sat the chiefs of noble race,With those who dealt provision in that space.
- E7.7.70Below the nobles sat the men of trade;Beneath, the poor whom their own toil repaid.
