From E10.8, Mahwi Meets Yazdegard at Tus. It illustrates E10.8.1–9:
- E10.8.1A rider came, with royal words in hand,High-fortuned, seeking fame throughout the land.
- E10.8.2The tabiras thundered down the royal road;Through Nishapur to Tus the army flowed.
- E10.8.3Then Mahwi Suri heard, and came with mightTo meet the Shah, with spears and armor bright.
- E10.8.4When royal Glory’s banner came in sight,With all the king’s great chiefs to left and right,
- E10.8.5He swiftly left the saddle and his steed,And bowed before the Shah with reverent heed.
- E10.8.6Across the burning dust he softly passed,While tears of reverence fell thick and fast.
- E10.8.7He kissed the ground and long before him stayed; His army bowed, and all their homage paid.
- E10.8.8They hailed the Shah and lowered every head,And Farrokhzad his ranks before him spread.
- E10.8.9With heart made glad, he met him face to face,Then counseled him at length within that place.
