In Hind, Jamhur dies leaving the infant Gav; his brother Mai reigns, marries the queen and fathers Talkhand. The brothers’ rival claims end in a battle by the sea where Talkhand dies of thirst, unwounded. To show his mother how, the sages devise chess.
- E2.3.12He named the infant Gav, his royal boy;But brief was Jamhur’s time to share that joy.
- E2.3.14He left to Gav a world where justice shone,Though infant Gav could not yet rule alone.
- E2.3.28He took Gav’s mother as his wife and queen,And cherished her, his life, with love serene.
